With the time change – Daylight Savings Time is on or off, I can only remember “Spring up, Fall back” the world seems different. Like, everything (gestures broadly at the world) is a huge mess but it’s light out after 6pm so we can barbecue and sit outside for dinner.
Random things from the week.
- The Bee is 25.
Aside from me being in awe at I have been responsible for a human life for 25 years, I think I did a pretty decent job. It hasn’t always been an easy time and sometimes I wonder how we survived but she has all her limbs, is a decent person and has a kind heart. I think we’ve done well. - The Philadephia Yarn Crawl.
This weekend was the annual Philadelphia Yarn Crawl and first let me say that the organizers did an amazing job with the hupe surrounding the event, the tote bags and the vibe of the crawl but I had some mixed thoughts about the crawl and me. First, I have been working on a no spend/ frigal lifestyle. With our current administration slashing and cutting funding and jobs for everyday people with reckless abandon, it feels foolish to drop hundreds of dollar for a hobby that I am not actively doing. However, two of the stores sold fabric so I was able to stimulate my local economy and run into friends. - Sewing
Speaking of side quests, my quilt is coming along. It’s slow going but soon I’ll be standing on a chair to unfurl it. - Side Quests
There is a trend on TikTok in which users are talking about doing more than work and chores, side quests. At my last library, I did not have the mental space to do “side quests.” I was so busy trying not to drown that all I could do was work and sleep. With my current role, and post surgery, I feel like there is space for side quests and I do have the time and space to explore more than work and home. But, that name…”side quests?” I love that social media makes the most mundane thing, going to the farmer’s market, more exciting by giving it a fun name. - Elsbeth
This is my newest favorite comfort show. A procedural whodunit with a quirky main character. - Walking vs Running
I have started doing treamill walks with my Peloton app and baybee…I feel like those walks have been humbling me. The hikes and walking bootcamps are just enough to make me just as challenged but not wipe me out.
Time for bed. Gotta put those tread skills to good use!
