Write a Review Wednesday: Because I’m Your Dad

When asked, I can name plenty of books which celebrates moms but I am always at a loss to recommend books which celebrates dads. Welcome Ahmet Zappa‘s Because I’m Your Dad. In this book Little Monster learns that his dad will do any and everything to make childhood a wonderful experience.

Reading through the book I had such a warm feeling. Ahmet shows such a fondness for his little one that really shines through the pages. In my experience, parenting felt like work but this book shares that parents can have a joyful experience and make childhood memories full of positive interactions.

I do have one complaint; I felt the book a tad repetitious as the line “because I’m your dad” was repeated so often. No matter; this book will be a delight to share.

The lively illustrations by Dan Santat are such a joy. They are bright and tell the story through pictures. Little Monster and Dad Monster can be shared with every child. (Total aside Dan Santat created the Disney show The Replacements. Squee!)
