I got this book to review a while ago and wanted to share it only when I had a finished product. But it’s been a while so I wanted to share the book and let you see my Someday Sunday work in progress.

In “Basic Knitting and Crocheting for Today’s Woman” Anita Closic promises 14 projects to soothe the mind and body. Armed with knowledge of basic knit and crochet techniques, Anita delivers her promise with designs to allow crafters the delicious sense of satisfaction which comes from completing a project and soothing colors while doing so. In the introduction, Anita writes that “she finds the art of knitting or crocheting transports the mind to another place of serenity and comfort.

Also in the introduction, Anita offers a key for colors used in the book. The colors are meant to soothe and relax as you create. I’ve casted on for the “Om Scarf” (yes, yes, adding to my WIPs!), and I have found myself working the stitches and enjoying the process of what can become from wool and sticks, relaxing as the simple pattern repeats itself and gives me an opportunity to accomplish a piece.

The Om Scarf

The patterns are doable, easy to follow and beautifully photographed to show what the finished product looks like. There are ideas for the home and to wear. There is quite a few patterns dedicated to yoga which offers another idea for relaxation and self care.
