Live on Stage!

or last minute gift ideas!

Last year The Bee and I were fortunate to be able to attend a live performance of a ballet. It was magical! The orchestra playing, the dancers on stage, the energy from the audience…a wonderful experience! As I sat in that audience I promised myself the gift of live theater and was able to see one or two live performances throughout the year.

My latest theater experience will be with Jekyll and Hyde next week at the Forrest Theater.

It’s coming December 26 – 30 to the Forrest Theatre.

American Idol star and Tony Award®  nominee Constantine Maroulis joins with multiplatinum recording artist and Grammy®  nominee Deborah Cox to inject new life into the classic tale of good and evil,  Jekyll & Hyde.

After four years on Broadway and multiple worldwide tours, this dark and dangerous love story from Tony® and Grammy®  Award nominee Frank Wildhorn and Oscar®  and Grammy®  Award winner Leslie briCusse  returns with all its classic songs (“This is the Moment”, “A New Life”, “Someone Like You”), only now remarkably reinterpreted to suit the powerful and contemporary vocal stylings of its brand-new stars. Brand new direction and choreography are the work of Tony Award®  nominee Jeff Calhoun.

We are attending this show next week and I am excited to see (and hear!) Deborah perform. I have always loved her work and look forward to seeing her perform. Constantine was an amazing singer when he competed on American Idol and I am looking forward to seeing the smolder live.

If a tale of good and evil isn’t your thing (or you just want to see a second show) check out Cirque Elioze which will be performed at the Merriam Theater, December 26-December 30.

This astonishing modern circus transports audiences to a vibrant urban streetscape. The stage comes alive with the boundless energy of acrobats, break dancers, and contortionists, who perform against a kaleidoscope of eye-popping video projections, building to a stunning finale on a one-of-a-kind video trampowall. The whole family will love this mind-blowing fusion of new theatrical circus and urban dance!

This is visually stunning. The performers look as if they are flying – floating through the air with their graceful movements, their flawless performances and moves that appear liquid. The dancing looks amazing, with such athletic movements mixed with dance.

Awesome!
