Hello, September!

A return to blogging has been on my mind lately after reading some posts on Threads, and I was like, “Oh yes…I have one of those!” I keep thinking that I am going to restart writing in this space, but then something gets in the way — mostly myself — and then it’s off to the next thing. This September feels like as good a time as any to restart this space, especially since this September is doing that thing I like…the first of the month falls on a Monday, and bonus, it’s a holiday! 

So without further ado, here is my first post in a while.

It’s going to be about running!

September Things

Run Things

Increase weekly mileage. 
My normal meet-ups are 5ks (a bit over three miles); however, last week I added an extra mile two out of three run days, and it wasn’t awful. I want to add that extra mile to my regular runs and get back into running with the six mile group that meets weekly. 

Stretch daily
Yes. I still struggle with this and could probably copy and paste all of the things about why I should be stretching.I found a stretch that I love on Peloton, and that’s been my go-to for the last week or so.  

Moving on…

Add weight training three days a week
I was working my way through the shorter weight programs on Peloton as a way to get the workout in but also not feel like I don’t want to a new-to-me Peloton instructor, and I did notice a difference during the runs. I’ll keep using workou

Find new spaces to run
My BGR group ran in Valley Forge today, and it was a gorgeous morning! This was my first visit to the park, and I cannot believe that I let fear of “a far distance” keep me away from this park. This led me to think about other places in the city to run and explore as well as how I keep letting the unknown keep me away from new things. (This is about running and this is not about running)

Races on the horizon

9/7 Queen of Prussia 5K. A few BGR members signed up, so it will be nice to have someone to run with.

9/21 Philadelphia Distance Run. I’m doing the 5k. 

10/4 Gritty 5k. I have so much orange to source for this race!

11/8 Mushroom Cap Half (I’m doing the five miler), use “RunKSQ” to save $10 off registration 

11/19 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend (I’m doing the half: 

12/6 Rehoboth Seashore Marathon (I’m doing the half) Use code “RBBIBRAVE25” valid for 15% off @rehobothrunning.
