My problem area (today) is my midsection. I’ve become bored with crunches; while they are effective I feel so out of sorts with the way I look that I am impatient for results. I know I can’t spot tone but I wanted to find something to target my middle and wake up the muscles that are lying dormant under that layer of fat. Crunch: Fat Burning Ab Attack is streaming on Netflix* and I decided to give it a go.
Not your typical on the floor crunches, this workout is a good challenge. The first half is a mixture of cardio and ab exercises with the focus working obliques. The second half are the more traditional floor exercises. Catherine Chiarelli is a very good, clear instructor. Her cuing is good, the instructions are clear and make sennse and the workout seems possible and doable. I don’t feel sore or drained and think this will be a great addition to my routine.
Like all Crunch workouts, this one seems more like a party than a instructional video. I’m a fan. I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and comraderie of the participants. If I have to nit-pick about one thing it will be that the repetition. Catherine says that repetition brings results but I felt that if I did the routine ‘from the top’ again I was going to scream.
In my total scientific** rating I would give this two dumbells. If you can get this from the library, Netflix streaming or a friend, go for it.
