I spent the weekend reading, “Yes, Chef!” the autobiography of Chef Marcus Samuelsson. At just 24, Marcus was awarded three-stars from the New York Times as the Executive Chef at Aquavit. The James Beard Foundation named him “Best Chef- New York City” in 2003 and honored him with the “Best International Cookbook” for A Soul of a New Cuisine in 2006. Marcus also serves as a recurring judge for Chopped, one of Food Network’s highest-rated series with a following of over 20 million viewers a month! Reading “Yes, Chef!” made me want to relearn everything I have ever thought about cooking and kitchens, eating out and food, about working and blogging. His words and life are really inspiring.

I can’t wait to check out the recipes in this new book. While reading “Yes, Chef!” I found myself imagining al of the great flavors he was putting together and wondering how I could replicate that in my kitchen. Also, Chef Marcus wrote that he often ate on the go, doing research in other restaurants and experiencing new tastes and that his kitchen wasn’t really used. I am eager to see what changed his attitude and what he keeps his pantry stocked with.
