Say It, "Rah-shay"

Words and thoughts from Rachée

July Running – Check In

July 12, 2020

For the month of July my running goal is 76 miles. Last month I was successfully able to reach 70 miles so I feel confident that I can add in six more miles to reach that goal.

In June I learned that planning runs are key. Getting them in earlier in the month is the best way to ensure for days of rain and days of “I donwanna run” . I also learned that rest days are imperative. I run so much better when I have a day or two rest than the weeks when I push myself every single day.

For July, I’ve been running solo and with some members of the BGR group. Running with a partner is great because the BGR runners push me to go a little bit further, a little bit faster, and encourage me to stop listening to that voice telling me I cannot and that helps me keep going.

My solo runs are a great time to think about all the things and today was a solo run. Hours later and I am still absolutely giddy thinking about today’s run. Here’s the skinny…when we first moved and I would go out for a run, I had a goal of running to a coffee shop, having a cuppa and then running home, a trip that was the equivalent to a 10k or so. This dream never quite became a reality. Inconsistent training, getting sick, and a new job just made running six miles, let alone running A MILE feel impossible. So even though I was solo, my intention for today’s run was to start with a familiar route and then wind my way through the streets until I reached the Philadelphia Zoo.

I cannot explain the why but I had this goal of running to the Zoo and grabbing a shot in front of the entrance. I made wonderful time from my starting point. My pace was consistent, I did not feel out of breath or sore and I’m beginning to believe that running further for a cuppa may be in the future.

Here’s the thing….the run wasn’t as far nor took as long as I thought. This makes me think that I should begin to set my sites on other localish landmarks for that money shot. I’ve done the Bridge – twice! – and the Art Museum but now I would like to find some other places to run.

Signing off to work on some stretching. Right now I just do series of moves to hit all of the muscles. Still searching for *the routine.*

Stay healthy!

Taking flight! @maddyruff and I sampling the Margaritaville and Ladies Night Out flights.

Another hump day hustle! Paced with C for a morning 5k. First run this week and felt pretty strong. Still working on slower starts for a stronger finish but those hills (and there were sooooo many inclines) didn’t win.
As the inimitable Sam Jackson said, "Hold onto your butts" your girl is running a half marathon!
It’s a refrigerator clean out #meatlessmonday. Tonight it’s tofu marinated in sesame oil, rice vinegar and soy sauce. Pulled out the wok and added broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, shallots and onions. Diced up some ginger and a homemade marinade.
This is 100.
