Drinks with the Sphinx: Evening Event at @PennMuseum

If you’ve always wanted to go to Penn Museum’s celebrated 40 Winks with the Sphinx sleepover programs, but didn’t have a child (or just wanted to do it child-free), this one’s for you: Drinks with the Sphinx runs Wednesday, November 19, from 6:00 to 9:30 pm, beginning in the Penn Museum’s Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery.

Come ready to play: guests can learn a few moves during a belly dancing workshop, test their knowledge of world cultures in a “What in the World” object trivia game, learn to write like an Egyptian, come face to face with a real mummy at a special mummy interactive station, and go crafty making a “Turkish” tile to take home. Cap off your evening with a flashlight tour of our galleries!

Unlike 40 Winks with the Sphinx, Drinks with the Sphinx offers a cash bar, and features a signature cocktail (to be revealed at the event). The low admission ($20; $15 for Penn Museum members) includes one free drink for all guests 21 and older. Advance reservations recommended: 215.898.2680, or online; walk in guests welcome (while space permits)!

Drinks with the Sphinx is sponsored by the Young Friends of the Penn Museum.
