I used to love and look forward to Sundays to do Stream of Consciousness. For the last five years I have worked almost every Sunday at a small college and SOCS was a part of my routine. After I got all of my official duties out of the way and while I would wait for people to ask for help, I had free time to blog and a mind dump of things was a nice way to get my blog juices to flow. When Fadra stopped doing the prompt I tried to keep up the momentum with Jana but soon I just got really busy with other stuff and finally stopped making any attempt to post. It wasn’t until my sister told me that that the link up had stopped that I realized SOCS was gone. Just as well…I kept forgetting to link up and post but after seeing someone tweet about the Stream of Consciousness I was all, “I can do that!”
So here I am.
Last week I headed to work because of what I thought someone would say. I was sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching and wore out a box of tissues yet I was so determined to “do what I thought I had to do” that I left my house, looking and feeling like death and tried to host a group of kids to play. After spending a week home and resting, really resting not let me do stuff around the house and kinda rest in between, I realized that it is so OK to take the time to take care of yourself. It’s not selfish. It’s not bad. It’s OK to use those sick days, those days I have been saving up for “just in case” here was the in case. The show went on. One monkey doesn’t stop the show as much as I would like to think I am the woman, and being sick but trying to be strong is just dumb.
Things that happened last week:
Cold medicine induced dreams: I was the wife of a Barbarian ruler who was murdered in front of me. I was similarly tortured, our unborn child cut from my womb and I was left for dead. I mended and avenged his death as a well as reunited with our child.
Deep!
My nose was so stuffy that I snored myself awake on more than one occasion. Sorry fellas…I’m taken!
Also, how much are paternity tests? Cause there were so many women who were return visitors on Maury. According to his website his show is filmed somewhere in Connecticut but is really close to New York. Perhaps that is the draw?
Time!
This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…
- Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
- Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
- Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
- Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post (get it from Jan’s site).
- Link up your post on Jana’s website
