Book Review: Waiting Is Not Easy!

Say it Rah-shay By Nov 06, 2014 No Comments

Mo Willems is back with a new Elephant and Piggie book and this time Elephant is shown that being patient will allow good things will come to those willing to wait.

As usual the book is shown with sparse illustrations and fun text. I love the pages in which Elephant’s groaning as he waits fills up the entire space of the page. It gets so big that he physically crushes Piggie with his exasperation! Elephant and Piggie, are drawn with great facial illustrations and I think this will be a great read aloud for everyone.

New Mo Willems! Elephant learns to wait! Also, two other books to share about waiting.

Other books to share with your favorite readers about waiting:

Hello in There!: A Big Sister’s Book of Waiting by  Jo Witek.

I like this book because so often books about new siblings are so negative. This book shows an excited girl getting ready for her new role as big sister.

Llama Llama, Red Pajama by Ann Dewdney

After getting tucked into bed for the night bedtime drama ensues when Llama cannot wait for his mama to return to his room. I wish I had known about this book when The Bee was smaller; bedtime was ALWAYS full of drama in our home. This book will reassure children that their mamas are still available even if they are not near.
