Brownie and Pearl See the Sights written by Cynthia Rylant and illustrated by Brian Biggs is a simple story about a girl and her cat exploring the town. They go shopping and have have a snack before returning home to each take a nap.

Such a sweet book! The unfussy plot, lends itself to lots of discussion about favorite stores, hats, shoes and cupcakes. New readers will appreciate a picture book with familiar words and seasoned readers will enjoy a great read aloud.

General Considerations:
This short picture book would be excellent for new readers. The story is short enough to capture the attention of a new reader yet full of memorable things that one would do during an outing out. The pictures jump off of the page and readers will enjoy the sights along with Brownie and Pearl.

It reads aloud well and lends itself to props and a snack (cupcakes!)
