The Road to Richmond

Rachee is running ANOTHER marathon

Late last year, I got an e-mail from Bibrave looking for folks who would want to represent Bibrave for the Richmond marathon. I signed up, never imagining that I would be selected. I was pleasantly surprised to get the “You’re In!” email and suddenly…another marathon is scheduled.

So many emotions came over me.

Fear: I bagged on my longer races in 2025 because I did not do the work with training. I did a lot of weights and stretching but cardio…lacking!

Panic and Denial: This Rachee of 2026 is NOT the same Rachee from 2022, a Rachee who lived and breathed running. I struggle to get up at 5 am to run in the cold and here I am signing up for LATE fall races!

Acceptance: For 2026, I am allowing myself a moment to mourn that old Rachee but also to embrace this new stage in my running life, giving myself some grace and beginning again. I signed up for the new race in Philly, the Cold Hearts 5k. hosted by Philly Runner. With my registration, I have access to Philly Runner’s beginning 5K plan to get some confidence to complete this 5K feeling confident, injury free, and able to lay a base for my longer distance races.

Of course, Philly weather has been nuts. It’s cold and icy, snowing (rude) and makes running outside NOT fun but I have goal. Im 2026 we are not wasting money on races or deferring (unless its because of injury) or not giving it my all.

Follow along my road to Richmond. Let’s be friends on Instagram or cheer me on Strava.

Here’s to embracing a new era of running and new adventures!
