Tangled Tuesdays: Hooking Up Others

October 25, 2011

One of the blogs that I follow, Crochet Concupiscence, has three ongoing projects that sound pretty cool. The projects are Swaddle, The Health Benefits of Crochet and Hooked Together!

Swaddle

From her web site:
Swaddle is a crochet art project exploring the ways in which women nurture the men in their lives. It looks at silent forms of nurturing but specifically delves into the way that women communicate. Swaddle looks at the positive ways that female approaches to communication improve relationships but also looks at the darker side of how differing communication styles can suffocate relationships.
This Swaddle project sounds like something my sister and I were talking about recently. Without going into the whole thing there is a need to work on my communication in relationships.

The Health Benefits of Crochet

Kathryn is writing a book about the mental and physical health benefits of crochet and is looking for people to contribute. I agree with her when she says that “crochet is such a healing, soothing craft and can provide significant mental health benefits for people dealing with depression, anxiety and stress-related illness.”
If you are interesting in being interviewed about  how crochet has helped with your health e-mail her at kathryn.vercillo@gmail.com.

This is my favorite! For this project Kathryn is going to do the ultimate blog tour!

Hooked Together

For this project Kathryn is going to visit each of the 270 crochet / fiber / yarn blogs that she reads. Not only that she is going to explore the blog rolls for each of the blogs that she visits to explore what the bloggers are reading, sharing their links to crochet and feature these blogs on HER blog Friday so that Kathryn’s readers can find other blogs that they’ll enjoy. AND THEN she is going to put all of this together into a big display to show how the crochet community is connected within itself and to the larger craft community.

Wow!
The power and reach of crochet is extraordinary!
I encourage you to check out Kathryn’s site for great links, patterns and to be inspired.
Getting hooked again and again,
-r
