I love Judy Schachner, having been able to meet her on more than one occasion. She is a true advocate for books and has been a frequent visitor at the Lansdowne Library.

I am pleased to share that one of her books will be brought to life tonight at the Swarthmore Library and below is all of the information you need for this FREE event!

The Swarthmore Public Library invites the public to attend a special Storytime reading of “Yo, Vikings!,” the children’s book written by Swarthmore resident and NY Times best-selling author, Judith Byron Schachner.  The reading will take place at the Swarthmore Public Library on July 1 at 6:30 pm and there is no charge to attend.

Wallingford native Rachel Stevens, an actress and director who recently received an MFA in directing from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University, will read the book. Cast members from the production of “Yo, Vikings!” the musical (based on the book) at Upper Darby Summer Stage will perform songs from the show.

“Yo, Vikings!,” by Swarthmore resident and NY Times best-selling author Judith Byron Schachner, is based on a true story about her daughter Emma who had an authentic Viking ship delivered to her Swarthmore home, Also illustrated by Ms. Schachner, it is a delightful tale about how far imagination, fueled by knowledge, can take one determined little girl whose biggest fan is the librarian!

Stevens recently received rave reviews in the New York City production of “Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging.”

The musical “Yo, Vikings!” is part of the 40th Season line-up at Upper Darby Summer Stage. The production takes place on July 15, 16, 17 at 10:30 am and on July 16 at 7:30 pm at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA.
