Whether you like it or not, it’s about that time. Summer is slipping away and the first ads have already began to grace the airwaves and invade the senses…back to school shopping. Whether you feel that summer has flown way too fast and that it was only yesterday children were counting down the final days of the school year or that summer has gone slowly and the crawl towards the beginning of the school year is too slow it is time to put away shorts and grab all of the supplies and materials needed for the beginning of school.
This year, back to school shopping doesn’t have to be so traumatic. Throughout the month of August select GapKids stores will host Shine On Saturdays. These Shine ON events are designed to allow your child to express their own creativity with art activities as you shop for back to school. These art projects were created by Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag who was inspired by Jewel Box Skinnies for girls (the new skinny jean updated in bright stretchy denim) and Action Stretch Denim for boys (designed for play all day- it’s denim that’s made to move).
In the Philadelphia area, you can get your Shine On in the following ways:
Saturday 8/11: Make Geometric Shapes at the Newtown store located 60 West Rd.
Saturday 8/18: Create your own journal at the Philadelphia store located at 1510 Walnut Street
Saturday, 8/25: Make an animal character badge at the King of Prussia store located 690 West Dekalb Pike.
