When my friend Pam challenged us all to wear scarves for 30 days, I thought I would just be showing off some of the scarves that I made, keeping warm and taking selfies. The 30 days of scarf wearing was so much more than that and here is what I learned.
- Scarvember showed me that I am not as bad as I see myself. It’s no secret that I have been going through some body issues but donning a scarf daily AND taking a photo made me see that I am not as horrible/ugly/fat/ unattractive as I had led myself to believe.
- I also learned that I am very good at what I do. I always thought my yarnthings were so-so but after seeing them through the eyes of others I realize that I can give myself five and a pat on the back
- It didn’t add too much to my morning routine but when it did, so what? Getting dressed should be much more than pulling on saggy jeans and a roomy top. With scarvember I was challenged with finding something that matched the scarf that I wanted to wear that day. And it was FUN. I have always thought of fashion as this “thing” that I was not to me a part of but working an outfit to go with a scarf was actually not so bad.
- I wanted more. Instead of being content with rolling out of bed and grabbing saggy jeans and a baggy top, I wanted more. I wanted to be more than blah and more boom and it wasn’t too much to ask for or do.
Below are some pictures from my month of scarf wearing. I love the different looks and ideas that I rocked!
Thank you Pam for the challenge!
Tell me…what is your favorite way to rock a scarf?
My favorite way to wear a scarf is in a triangle shape around my neck. Keeps my chest and neck warmest that way!
I like that! Sounds like a bandana!
Rachée Fagg Most of the scarves I have are big squares, and come to think of it, most of them have bandana like designs lol. So I guess I wear my scarves like giant, fluffy, warm bandanas! =)
You have an awesome gift! You should continue to create beautiful scarves.
DANG GIRL! You had a great experience and I love it! Your scarves are beautiful and so are you :P)
Those scarves look great on you-and you made them? I only wish I could create such beautiful things. I don’t normally wear scarves as I really do not like anything around my neck for some reason-maybe I should try again.
That seems like it was so much fun. I love wearing scarves too.
I barely have any scarves, I need to up my supply! I loved all your bullet points & scarves do suit you 😉
You have some seriously awesome scarves there, lady. You look great in all of them.
I don’t know why but I’ve never really started wearing scarves. I love them, but I guess I don’t really know how to wear them so I don’t.
I actually wanted to get one for myself – I never done so before, i'd like to see myself wearing one. hehehe.
I love the scarf shawl your daughter is wearing. It’s white with a button on the collar. So cute!
I love all your styles and that you even involved your sweet kitty!! 🙂
You’ve got some really great scarves here. I got my first ruffle scarf last Christmas from my MIL and I love it too!
I can understand about not wanting to roll out of bed and grab the same blah clothing. Working from home, that is easy to do. I started running in the morning due to the time change and love that I actually shower and get dressed instead of throwing on running clothing to wear all day until I run. You are beautiful regardless. I can not wait until the weather cools down so I can wear some of my scarves. I told my husband when it does he has to take me to lunch because I am going to look great!
What cute scarves! I love scarves in the winter because I get so cold.
You look great in all of these! I don't usually wear scarves because I live in the land of sun and summer 12 months a year.
I love scarves! I think my favorite is the long one that can be wrapped around your neck a few times. You look really great
I am glad you gained a little bit of self insight from your scarf wearing month. You look great in these scarves and love your homemade scarves. We love infinity scarves in our house. My daughter rocked a beautiful one today.
I love these . I use to wear them like crazy in Indiana but now I am in Texas so I wear thin ones in my hair around my neck you name it
I'm actually a big fan of scarves and I love to match them with my outfits and my mood. I enjoy the cold months exactly for this reason, I can rock my favorite scarves.
I love how you got something out of a simple challenge. I love your scarves too!
I love wearing scarves so much! They are so comfy!
I love chunky scarves. I love your looks. Scarves are so versatile and can really make an outfit pop. 🙂
Not so fond of wearing a scarf but I do want to wear them if I want to. I like to wear the ones that are silky, soft and smooth. Rayon, soft knit, fabrics that I like to pick for scarf.
Those scarves are beautiful and you totally rocked those scarves!
some beautiful scarfs! i love the thin one you’re wearing with the cable sweater.
Love the look of scarves.. and loved your 30 days of it.. soo cool.. and you look fabulous in everyone of them..thanks for sharing
My favorite way to wear a scarf is over my head tied from front to back with sun glasses, a la Jackie Kennedy style.
Oh I love all of the different ways you rocked a scarf! I’m currently in a DC suburb, temporarily for my husband’s job, and home is Florida so I’ve been rocking scarves like crazy this winter! BRRRR!
Yay for the SITS Girls for helping me find your blog!
You look fantastic in these scarves! And I love that your cat got in on the Scarfvember action, too! 🙂 I especially love those two green ones at the top. Did you crochet them yourself?
Yes! I was on a cowl kick and made them. One was for my niece, the other was a tester that I kept for myself.
