When I first started crocheting, I never thought the balls of yarn garnered from my local Salvation Army and the hook liberated from my sister would amount to anything more than another passing fancy of Rachee. I tend to jump feet first into things, totally immerse myself in the thing and then my enthusiasm for said thing quickly peters out until the next big thing.
Proudly I have been chugging along with my hooking; churning out items at a respectable clip and able to present completed items, even if they are only donated to my daughter for use in her Barbie house or because she has misplaced yet another hat.
For the last few months, my daughter and I have been in the process of moving. The move, which I fondly call my et cetera move (as in it is to be continued forever and ever…) has resulted in an item here, a box there as I load up my little sedan and try to do as much as I can by myself; a work in progress. As I meander along I did take the time to move the thing that I like best: my stash!
Yes, I may not have a bed set up, may not have a kitchen but dangit, I’m gonna craft!
I posted my crafting set-up on Crochet Spot and you can visit that post here but wanted to take time to thank my friend Leigh Ann for the donation of the Ikea Niklas shelving unit. Held together by a wing and a prayer this is my idea of how a crafting space should, and now DOES look.
I know what you mean by the “next big thing”. I am often afflicted with this American malady.
I must be getting old because I am annoyed at the endless stuff the “consumer machine” creates to get my hard earned money. I am no longer excited at the prospect of something new.
Today, in a crafty way, I washed the dust off of my sewing machine case and made a simple pillow cover for the throw pillow on my bed. I made it in a couple of hours with fabric I already had. I felt good and thrifty.
Take that, consumer machine!
