Off (!) the Hooks: The Jayne

Finally finished!
I have been trying to make Effin Guy a crocheted replica of The Jayne, a hat Adam Baldwin character Jayne Cobb receives on the now cancelled (but totally awesome) show Firefly. Most patterns that I found were knit. Since I don’t knit and unsure of how to convert knit instructions to crochet friendly, I kept putting the hat on the back burner.
Kim Werker of Crochet Me posted the version that I have ended up making. I tried to make this hat before but honestly tried to use the yarn I had at home and it just did not work! There was another pattern that called for the Red Heart that I had available but that too was a bust. So this past week when the stars aligned (I had my favorite hook; Charisma, the bulky yarn by Loops and Needles Charisma was on sale at Michael’s and I was coming off of the high of completing The Bee’s sock monkey hat) I made it work.
Yay me!

Here’s the hat and below the pics is a You Tube clip of Jayne getting his hat.
