My yarn buying embargo is over, it’s my birthday month, what better way to celebrate than with YARN!

For my birthday, Effin Guy bought me yarn. We visited Finely A Knitting Party in Swarthmore and the owner Kathy was kind enough to let us shop even though her store is closed on Mondays! Here I picked up two skeins of KnitCol Trends for a Hat/Cowl combo I plan to make. I also grabbed a skein of Diversity from Plymouth Yarn for a hat. This one requires size three (3!) needles for a really cool striped slouch hat. Both are in shades of blue and I know The Bee is going to try to comma deer these, you know since her school colors are blue and white.
Effin Guy also gifted me yarn from Jo-Ann’s. We got a few shades of grey (there is a joke in there somewhere) for a DeathStar pillow. (Cue Vader’s theme!)
It’s starting to get so cold and since The Bee pinched this blanket:
I have been working on this granny ripple blanket for myself. I got the pattern from Birdlebee Willimas Designs and can be found on Ravelry. I am using safes of green and blue and trying to bust through some of the worsted weights in my stash.

It got like, crazy cold in the last few days and I need hats! I was talking to one of the students at Rosemont and have been looking for a ribbed knit hat that would be slouchy and Professor Facebook, in the form of my Leigh Ann, helped me find my newest pattern. I found scores of patterns which fit the bill but really love the Keaton by Shannon Cook.
Monday I will be chugging through socks. I put down the last pair I started because working the heel made me itch. My friend Amy has offered a knit in and I am going to finish a sock if it kills me.
Instead of a bigger boat I am going going to need a bigger yarn bag!
