Hi Friends!
I am so excited to be a part of the The Blogger Connection Crafters! Each Thursday join us for a roundup of crafty bloggers and craftythings.

This week I decided to combine work and crafty things as I prepared for a program we are having at the end of the month. This November my ‘tweens will be invited to LPL Spy school where they will go through a rigorous secret agent training!

Secret agents need keen observation skills and what better way to practice than with the I Spy: A Book of Picture Riddles series by Jean Marzollo and Walter Wick? These popular books challenge readers with a series of riddle and puzzles challenging to spy a myriad of things on the pages.

While I wish I were the originator of this idea, I have to credit a fellow librarian who featured a Halloween themed I Spy. I loved her idea and thought we could incorporate the game with our program at the end of the month.

With the help of Agent Melo Bee, we created a life sized I Spy for potential agents.

Here is how you can make your own.
Gather lots of bright, colorful random everyday items.
The items we used included

  • feathers
  • buttons
  • stuffed animals
  • crayons
  • bookmarks
  • marbles
  • toys

We papered the case to make it standout and grab the attention of anyone walking by with a bright yellow background. Next we filled the case with all of the items we had collected and more!

Each week we will have a variety of objects for potential sleuths to find. Potential Agents are invited to join us each week to hunt for items and at the end of the month secret agent training will commence! See below for our list of this week’s objects!

To keep the spy theme going, we added a flyer with tear offs so that agents can call for further secret details.

Have fun planning your own I Spy adventure and let me know how it goes in the comments!

Spying something blue,
