#MondayListicles: The First Time Ever I…

Say it Rah-shay By Oct 31, 2012 No Comments

So this week Stasha is asking us for firsts.
Hmm…as I try to work up my post I wonder if I should keep it kittens and sunshine or if I should get funky?
I’ll type and see where the keys take me.
Now then, the first time ever I…

1) …held my kid.
Lots of people talk about looking at their newborn and knowing they were in love, knowing they would want to be a mom forever, knowing a whole lot of things that make for warm and fuzzies.
As for me, I keeps it classy with the sole thought that raced through my head when the nurse handed me my child: “I hope I don’t drop her!”

2) …read Harry Potter
Accio Book!
The hype had been going about the boy wizard but it was off of my radar until a news story on my beloved CBS Sunday Morning to announce the third book. I bought one and two and I was hooked. This mystical, magical land of wizards and spells, good and evil and the world of Hogwarts!
Amazing!

3) …got kissed really, really, REALLY good.
His name…not important. What is important was that tingle from my head to my toes. That feeling like my lips were burning and cold and numb and on fire.
Phew!

4) …lost my mind.
They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? Hell hath no fury like a broken heart.

5) …appreciated my mad storytelling skills.
I tend to fluff and primp for things that are superfluous at best, always downplaying my talents but you know what, I am the bomb when it comes to reading a story to a kid.

BTW: I love the two Glorias in my life!

6) …got really, really drunk.
I am a fruity drink type of gal and the less taste of alcohol, the better. My aunt had mixed up a bowl of something that smelled of alcohol but tasted like juice. I had a cup and another and another and well, the next day I heard the rest of the party went well.
7)…traveled solo.

I usually go somewhere with family, a colleague or the like.
I drove to Penn State, the main campus. I had car trouble but I was gone!
Let’s not forget my trek to DC (Yup, I’m still riding that train!)

8) …stayed out all night.
There was a walk of shame but really, I didn’t do anything (I was still a good girl even while being a bad girl). In the days before cell phones in every pocket, I just forgot to call and let my mom know that I was hanging out with friends from work. Luckily I saw one of my mom’s friends as I was heading home and she smoothed things over.

9) …fell in love.
I was young and dumb. He was not the one but the heart wants what the head says not to. There were lots and lots of mix tapes, Alanis Morrisette playing and well, let’s leave it at this: there is a ban on music by Seal being played in my house.

10) …realized I was worth it.
That’s a work in progress.
