I’m late to the MixTape party this week so shall we get to it?!

Ahh…tis the season and all that jazz! This year finds me in such a better place and ready to celebrate.

Christmas in Hollis, Run DMC

The first time I saw this video I was all like what the heck is this?! It’s a rapping Christmas song. After hearing it on the radio this was one of my favorites. I never owned Adidas but I could relate to mom cooking chicken and collar greens.

Santa Baby, Eartha Kitt

No other version will do. Not Madonna, Macy Gray or Taylor Swift. Give me Eartha, I mean Eartha Kitt before she started talking like a cat.

Anywho what a great song. Sure, Santa Baby is a little more mature but it’s such a fun song!

White Christmas, The Drifters

While I don’t want a White Christmas I love this do-wop version of White Christmas. It makes me stop what I’m doing, do a cool do wop dance that embarrasses anyone around me and makes me sing and scat out loud.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

I prefer the Dionne Warrick version but any one will do. I think Christmas has become such a rush and roll that it can be a chore instead of fun. This song reminds me of simpler times.

And the line, “And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again?”

Haw haw!

Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney

Sometimes this song is hit or miss but who doesn’t love a synthesizer, nasally singing, an easy hook and chorus? The Bee and I used to sing this in the car as obnoxious and nasally as we could…because we could.
