It’s that point of summer where we are between official holidays (I see you Labor Day),  so why not celebrate some of the less well known holidays like National Hammock Day? I am thrilled to share events happening in Philly for you to enjoy.

At Spruce Street Harbor Park Presented by Univest/Valley Green Bank and Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest:
Celebrate National Hammock Day: National Hammock Day is Wednesday July 22 and you can celebrate a holiday about hammocks in the most hammock-centric spot in the city — Spruce Street Harbor Park Presented by Univest/Valley Green Bank. New hammocks are being installed throughout the Hayneedle Hammock Lounge along with a hammock giveaway.
Worried about getting time in one of the hammocks? No worries! There will be time limits on the hammocks for the night. It’s one of the rare nights at Spruce Street Harbor Park where a guest is (almost) guaranteed a hammock from 4-8PM. DJ Patty Pat will be spinning a “musical hammocks” vibe, and security will be on-site to help make sure that people rotate every 30 minutes.
In addition, hammock lovers everywhere can win their very own hayneedle.com hammock by sharing their favorite hammock photos on social media, and tagging them with @hayneedle, #hayneedle, and #SSHP.
WHERE: Spruce Street Harbor Park, Presented by Univest/Valley Green Bank. 301 S. Columbus Blvd at Columbus Blvd and Spruce Street
WHEN: Wednesday, July 22 from 4-8PM
COST: Free
Today is also Free Meter Wednesdays which means parking in the city is free! Every Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) offers FREE meter parking in Center City. While most meters are free starting after 5 PM, rush-hour zones are free after 6:30 PM. So if you park anywhere from the Delaware River to the Schuylkill River and from Bainbridge to Spring Garden Streets, keep those coins in your pocket.
