Caron United Attempts To Break World Record

Lori Kleppe received the news every military spouse dreads when her husband, Navy pilot Ed Kleppe, was killed in a helicopter accident. Lori had a one-year old son and another little boy on the way when her husband died. Their futures weighed heavily on her mind.

Help Families of the Fallen

Nearly 20,000 military children have tragically lost a parent in the line of service. Beginning Veterans Day and continuing through Christmas 2015, the knitting and crocheting community comes together to help through Caron United’s campaign to build the world’s largest Christmas stocking, raising awareness and much-needed funds to help these families.

Knitters and crocheters can be part of this special cause by hand-crafting an individual blanket, which will come together to create the holiday stocking in a Christmas 2015 reveal. Proceeds from Caron United yarn used to create the blankets supports Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, whose mission is to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty – and whose help changed the lives of the Kleppes yet again when the foundation stepped in to help send the boys to college.

Create a New Future

“We can’t thank America enough for the enormous outpouring of support and generosity and I am thrilled to be part of knitting this holiday stocking that pays it forward for the military children who have lost a parent and need our help,” said Lori. “I have no doubt that both boys are doing better in life knowing that people really care, enough to help support them with the most momentous achievement of their lives. It’s also pretty cool to make something that will help others.”
