Summer Wheels by Eve Bunting
Picture Books for National Bike Month

From Kirkus: The Bicycle Man lends bikes to the neighborhood kids for free, and Lawrence and Brady ride them all summer long. But when a new kid takes advantage of the Bicycle Man, Lawrence and Brady discover that there’s one thing that the Man likes more than bikes: kids.

Since so many of my library kids ride bikes, and my above mentioned co-worker was always trying to help match kids to bikes, this story hits close to home.

I also enjoyed this book because in Philadelphia there is the Neighborhood Bike Works which provides educational, recreational, and career-building opportunities for urban youth in underserved neighborhoods in greater Philadelphia through bicycling.

There are good people in the world and kids who are still fighting for fairness. Yes!
