It’s been a while since I participated in Monday Listicles and this is a perfect one to jump back in with: What’s doing on the weekends.
Weekends are such a blur and I have been adding to the madness with
1. Scouts. The Bee doesn’t want to do Girl Scouts anymore and part of me is totally okay with that. Her heart is not into it, my heart is not really into it and it’s time for cookies…gah! I I really do not want to let her out of scouts while she is temporarily not feeling it. I would never want her to regret having stopped later in life. When this year is up we shall reexamine her feelings but as for now it’s off to do our (her) duty.
2. Housework. Sorta. All week long I rip and run telling myself that I will pickup the house on Saturday and well then there’s a book, a yarnthing, anything to keep my house a royal wreck. I will bust out the dishes (don’t want soldiers), pop in a load of clothes and work on something from the never ending to do list but honestly, it’s really all:
3. Books. I love curling on the couch to read one more page, chapter, book. I have been getting some fantastic books and have decided to make reading them part of my routine.
4. Playing with yarn. I am a part of two yarn groups which meet at two libraries (double win!) and they have been meeting on two Saturdays each month. I love meeting with them; crocheting and knitting can be so isolating. It’s good to meet up with people for motivation, help with stitches or patterns, and to swap supplies.
5. Hanging with the family. It will start out that my sister asks me to pick up Dill or I’ll ask her or my BIL to pick up The Bee and then we are just at each other’s houses starting a Mario Kart tourney, watching some old movie or just being. Sometimes it will be at my house, my sister’s house or over at mom’s. It always ends with food, too many sugary treats and lots of giggles.
6. Nights out with Effin Guy. We are kinda at that stage in the relationship where we are comfortable with each other but we do like to do things together and (gulp!) as a sorta family. Sometimes Effin Guy will come over pizza in hand to watch some movie, other nights we head out for a movie, show or some other family oriented activity. There are those rare nights when we do grown-up activities which may or may not involve alcohol (Eepers!)
7. The gym. I have started seeing my sister’s personal trainer, Angel, and owie! In a quest not to be some old broken lady I’ve been making the gym a priority. It’s been a transition; I would rather chill on the couch with some chips or ice cream but I love not feeling out of breath like all the time, love that there is some definition in my legs and like the transformation that will be coming.
8. Napping. Yes. I am a fan of the afternoon snooze especially after being tortured by Angel. I curl up, set the alarm and snooze away. When I wake I feel refreshed and no share for my winks.
9. Marathon watch something, anything on the TV. I totes admit that I am binge TV watcher. Weekends makes for the best time to watch a series or catch up on some show. We don’t have cable but between Hulu Plus and Netflix I have done my fair share of television watching.
And lastly, and certainly least:
10. Working. I work Sundays at a college and some weeks it is a struggle to get going. I really can’t complain about the job but will. Kidding. It is the time out of the house that bugs me. Some weeks those Sunday shifts seem so freaking long!
Now, I know this is Staha’s thing but my web designer created a cute little icon for when I play along:
Looks just like me, no?
Want to play along too? Check out Monday Listicles from The Good Life.
My son was in boy scouts for 3 years and finally we pulled him because the workload as he got higher in rank was absurd. All kind of projects and things like that.
I kind of feel guilty about wanting to pull her or let her quit but she’s really not into it. I really struggle; I think it may be worse to keep her in if she is not doing the work but don’t want her to miss out on opportunity.
I’ve heard they are making it harder for Girl Scouts to sell cookies? something about they have to fight for their right… or something.. ehh, who knows what I’m talking about? All I know is there are a lot of people in America that LOVE those cookies.
my son was never into boy scouts but then some kids aren’t
I rarely get a nap, but boy! do I love them when I do!! 🙂
I so wish I could take an afternoon nap but with four kiddos, I never get a chance!
Your web designer created that image and it's great looks just like you. Your lucky to have her.
I really want to get back into exercising and reading! It’s great that you’re making both part of your routine.
It’s nice that you have time to watch marathon with your favorite shows. I wish I can watch marathon for 24 hehehe.
Love your list. I would love to be able to take a nap. lol
That is quite a list. You are a woman on a mission. As for the girl scout situation, I think you are making the right choice
Girl Scout Cookies, I would stay with them just for those, I understand your daughter wanting a break though. Good for you on hitting the gym, hopefully it will stick and you will keep it up.
I am a big fan of napping. It really makes me feel so much better when I wake up. We have also been on a Law and Order marathon kick lately.
I can imagine that it is rough for you to sometimes work during the weakend. You should be able to rest for both days of the weakend.
I wish I could NAP! that sounds so delightful. I enjoyed reading your list sounds like you are super busy even on the weekends.
Working on the weekend sucks. But bills gotta be paid, right? I used to work weekends & still do about once a month, no fun at all! It’s supposed to be about getting some R&R on the weekend!
Great list sounds like you are always busy,we have girl guides here for the older girls and brownies for the younger ones also scouts for the boys but my oldest girl wanted to join so we let her then a few months later decided she did not want to go anymore lol.
What a great list. I work on the weekends which is not great but I make money at least!
I wish I could nap! Oh how that would be so awesome right now. My girls and my son are not in scouts of any kind. They really didn’t like the way the local groups were 🙁
I’m ok with kids not continuing in things like that, but not mid-year. Like you said, at the end of the year, you can reevaluate. I love naps too, love, love, LOVE them!
So let me get this straight.. this is the entire list of everything you did this weekend?! I feel like my list is only three things – eat, sleep, blog! I’m impressed!
My daughter just expressed her desire to discontinue Girl Scouts and I think I’ll stand with her on this one and she can gracefully bow out now that cookies are over here. Those cookie moms are a beast. LOL
