Six on a Sunday

  1. The world is going to hell in a handbasket and here I am blabbing on about stuff and things. The truth? I don’t always know how to talk about politics. I am so angry, anxious and scared. I worry about ICE raids- even if they are not looking for me, who knows what will happen to people I care about? I am so angry at the folks who voted for trump. He told people what he was going to do and they still let this man treat the US as a personal bank and playground. It has been awild year and I feel like an act of resistance is to vote and educate myself about politics, make sure people vote and take care of the people who love me. I also like joy is an act of resistance so while I am fighting the power, I am also going to embrace things that made me happy.

  2. The Snowpocalypse came. It’s been a while since Philly had a snow day, and I was kind of in denial about what the weather was going to bring. Silly me! As I was out doing my normal errands, I tried not to get caught up in the mania of people buying cases of water, cartons of eggs, and gallons of milk. Instead, I used what I had at home, made plans, and did some binge-watching TV with The Bee.

  3. The Bee and I have been rewatching Desperate Housewives, and I have to say, this show has not aged well. The women are so male-centric, and it’s kinda gross how they fight over men and reshape their whole identities to become a missus. Yes, I know this show is 20 years old, but I kind of want to write a bit more about this re-watch. I will probably share my thoughts about this show on social media with other folks who are re-watching.

  4. Over the weekend, a lady from my quilt guild showed me how to use my serger, Suki. I was excited about being able to use her, a machine I have had for a year, which has been gathering dust. However, instead of putting the machine away safely when I was heading home, I haphazardly threw the machine on the backseat of my car and broke the thread guide bar when I did a hard stop. As I bemoaned the broken thread bar, The Librarian and I talked about how expensive it is to rush to “save time.”

  5. My first race of 2026 is a 5K. I signed up for the Cold Hearts 5K on Valentine’s Day and training has been so inconsistent. I don’t really like running in the cold and have not been running on my tread. I want to finish my race in a decent time and that will not happen if I think about training instead of actually training. I am writing this at 11:50 pm so I will get my act together and I have a date with Treadwina in the morning.

  6. At the ripe old age of 52, I got a passport. I don’t think that I am going to be traveling anywhere anytime soon because of *waves at everything in general* but I do think a trip to Canada is coming soon. Whenever we visit upstate New York, I always want to drive across the border and now I can.
