#ZyaApp Review and iTunes Giveaway

Review it Rah-shay By Jan 18, 2014 25 Comments

My family and I love musicals, television shows that feature the actors bursting out into song and we swoon over live stage shows. A bucket list item of ours is to actually appear on stage as a part of the chorus in some kind of way off Broadway show. We all took turn with the Zya App I can live out part of my fantasy and create my own mixes.

Myself, my 13 year old daughter, The Bee, and my 18year old niece, Pop, all took turns testing this app to see if we could make our musical dreams come true. Here are the results.

What We Like

We love that there are a variety of diverse characters.  There are several genres to choose from and the characters from each genre can be mixed and matched as a song is created.

There are different genres of songs to play with. Pop, Hip Hop and Rock are represented for your use.

The music features familiar tunes. Current pop songs, including lots of Lady Gaga (!) are featured and can be mixed and mashed.

Mixing the songs. The app loads a bit slowly (see below) but once you get past this t’s fun to mix the different hooks and hear your creations.

There are plenty of choices to select from when creating a mix. It can a bit overwhelming scrolling through but it was interesting laying the right mixes and making the best beats. This was a little overwhelming for me although the teens liked picking the “perfect” mix.

What We Did Not Like

We found that the app was a little slow to load. It could be my phone (which I admit is close to full) but loading time took a while which caused some delays while playing the game.

To advance and earn characters, one must either be very patient, earning coins through play, or one could opt to buy songs and additional characters. I’m not too vexed about this one; I have made in app purchases with other games.

About the Game: Making Music With The Zya App

The new Zya App, available on iTunes for iPhones and iPads is a revolutionary app that allows players ages 4 years old and up to create “hit” songs. Children can learn how to make their own music, incorporating beats, rhythm and even their own voice. Players even have the ability to mash up popular culture songs like Blurred Lines, Hall of Fame and Poker Face.

The app itself is free and can be downloaded and played within minutes. Below is the official trailer which gives a great overview of the game.

Enter for a chance to win a $20 gift card. You can buy a lot of hit songs or unlock characters!

Good luck and have fun with your beats!
