Yarn Review: Isaac Mizrahi’s Craft Sutton

Lately my favorite type of yarn to work with is bulky or super bulky. Projects work up quickly giving that lovely sense of complete when you weave that last end. Within a few hours you have a freshly finished object, as was the case with a hat and cowl I made using Isaac Mizrahi’s Craft yarn in Sutton.  My niece picked out the yarn a few weeks months ago and requested a hat and cowl. She also asked for fingerless gloves but I only had two skeins and ran out of yarn.

Sutton, which is sold exclusively at Michaels, and is a super bulky, wool acrylic single-ply yarn. It has a smooth feel and works up very nicely. The yarn seems self stripe to produces a lovely pattern. It feels satiny and produces a lovely shine.

I purchases two skeins, one I worked directly from, the other I had wound into a ball. I found working from the skein better; the yarn snagged and got fuzzy when I rolled it into a ball.

It’s a bulky weight without being too heavy and, well, bulky under your coat (or over it) and the finished objects were snuggly and soft.

To create you own Super Easy and Quick to Make Cowl:

You will need:

• One skein of Isaac Mizrahi Craft Sutton
• Size US 15 16 inch circular needles (I used Clover Takumi Bamboo Circular 16-Inch Knitting Needles, Size 15)
• Scissors
• Crochet hook or Tapestry needle to weave in ends.

Cast on 44 stitches and join for working in the round.

Each round: knit 1, purl 1

Bind off using Icelandic Method (I only know two bind offs and this one produces a stretchier bind off. Please visit this post for a link to a video sharing how to do it.)

And voila…Cowlabunga!
