Write a Review Wednesday: Pete the Cat

Despite being a cat lover, when I first came across Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, I wasn’t sure if I would like the book. A cat wearing shoes isn’t unusual in a picture book but after my first reading I wasn’t able to get a feel for the book. However when I read it with my storytime group they went nuts, demanding that I read the book over and over.

Whoa!

Now I love Pete the Cat and his antics. I love his white shoes, his positivity and just how groovy Pete keeps it.

The book lends itself to so many things: signing the colors, singing as Pete encounters each obstacle and just encouraging readers that everything will be all right.
