Write a Review Wednesday: Not All Princesses Dress in Pink

In a world inundated with pink princesses, Ariels and Rapunzels Not All Princesses Dress in Pink by Jane Yolen and Heidi E. Y. Stemple celebrates young ladies who prefer mud and dirt while sporting their crowns. Using a fun to read rhyming text, we meet princesses who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, break a nail or build things…while wearing a sparkly crown. Illustrator Anne Spohie Languetin does a wonderful job capturing a diverse cast and this is a sweet book to share.

When I read this with The Bee she enjoyed the story. She joined in with “…and a sparkly crown” after we read about the interests of our unconventional princesses.

General Considerations:
I think this book is excellent. I will certainly recommend to all of my little princesses. I like it more as a one on one reading but would not oppose reading to a larger audience. The text is large enough for newer readers and will save eye strain for older readers.

Visit your local library or visit Simon and Schuster for buying info.
