Twisted MixTape: You Can Call Me Queen Bee

mixtape-jenkehl-200This week Jen’s Twisted Mix Tape is blogger’s choice and I thought I would gift you all with the songs that have been playing in a loop through my head.

You may all be thinking, “I thought you worked in a library?” and I do. But in between programs, while sitting at my desk, working in the office and looking through the stacks I find that I start humming and then singing and, well, soon it’s a full on concert.

Here are the songs that have been running through my head:

Royals – Lorde

Yes, this song has been out for a while but *I* just started liking it and, possibly, ruining it for everyone I work with. Below is Lorde and a wonderful acapella version from Florida State University.

Bellas Final from Pitch Perfect

Aca-believe it. I LOVE the movie Pitch Perfect and have found reasons to be singing the Bellas final performance.

When you walk on by…will you call my name?
As you walk on by…will you call my name?

Safety Dance – Men Without Hats

This may or may not be one of my ring tones.
Ahem.

Say, we can act if want to
If we don’t nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile

She Blinded Me With Science – Thomas Dolby

It’s poetry in motion!

The overall theme for my library’s 2014 summer reading program is science and we finally got our manuals and damned if that song isn’t stuck in my head.

Pour Some Sugar on Me – Balls of Fury Version

I LOVE the movie Balls of Fury. It’s ridiculous, it’s silly, it’s ping pong. Plus Christopher Walken is in it!

  1. Royals is always running through my head too! Great song!

  2. So great that you’ve got Safety Dance in here! I almost included the Literal Video version in my mix! Check it out on youtube, it is hilarious! Also? I came in late to the party on the Lorde song too and I really like it. Great mix!

The last one cracked me up and now I may have to waste a couple hours and watch the movie. And I just re-watched Pitch Perfect a couple weeks ago, I’m such a sucker for underdog singing/dancing movies. Speaking of movies, I can’t hear Safety Dance anymore without thinking of the scene in Bio-Dome with Pauley Shore. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Fantastic mixtape this week!

  4. Chrysa says:

Awesome song choices!! My husband was telling me how he got Royals stuck in all his co-workers heads the other day and then it got stuck in MY head!

  20. I just BARELY heard ROYALS too, but I heard it from my favorite Cover artists Pentatonix (PXT) accapella group. Have you heard their version? it is awesome!
