Soundtrack for a Walk Along The Drive*

Cute in the water.
Not on pavement begging for food.

I was a volunteer at The Bee’s school today but had a two hour hole to fill before my mommy duties started. Instead of my usual MO in which I would normally go find the nearest DD or its cousin and stuff myself silly, I made good on my ‘exercise in some form daily’ agenda and laced up my sneakers for a walk. Since I have been active for a few days, my body is starting to rebel against me in the form of a painful heel spur and sore hip flexors. Old Rachee would have used this as an excuse to not do anything. The hot and chunky version of me thought this was not so good excuse.

What a lovely site to cool down near

Anyhoodle, as I got my walk on, watched the boaters and avoided duck doo, I logged 4 miles in an hour and kept my tunes flowing.
Songs to groove to during a four mile walk:
Run It! by Chris Brown.
-Yes, he may be persona non gratis but this was the one that made mile 2 seem like step 2.
I Like Control DJ Clue, featuring Missy Elliott and Mocha.
-I am a bit biased with Missy Elliott. She always figures on my runs.

Baby Got Back by Sir Mix A -lot.
-Do I really need to say more?
Ballroom Blitz by Sweet.
-The drums made me move. And the music was sooothing! And I started grooooovin!
Radiowave by Leslie Mills.
-…feel like getting down and dirty with a bucket of love/ on the radiowave….
Peter Piper by Run DMC.
-I dare you not to move to this one.
Get Me Bodies by Beyonce.
-Say what you will about Ms. Knowles but this song is another that I dare you not to move to.
Music by Madonna.
-Again, say what you will about Madonna but really, who woulda thunk it 20 years from now she is still making music?
Just Fine (Treat ‘Em Right Remix) by Marj J Blige feat Lil’ Wayne (Hey! I have a Lil Wayne song in my library!?!?)
…no time for negative vibes…

I Put a Spell on You. Screaming Jay Hawkins version.
-When I thought about quitting an older dude lapped me. Not fun.

Mama Told Me Not to Come by Three Dog Night
-Just the right tune to cool down to.

What’s Up by 4 Non Blondes.
-…so I wake in the morning and I step outside/ And I take a deep breath and I get real high…

It’s Ecstasy When You Lay Next to Me by Barry White.
-I always think of roller skating when I hear this song and it makes me want to shake my shoulders and move
There were some more but I forgot what they were.
Oh well!
I am going to start yoga and look for a good calf stretch.
Later
