During the month of August at my library it is the return of the teens. After being absent most of the summer they return with a mission: to request and borrow the books they need for their assigned school readings. It never fails, the march of the teen patron and this year my library has taken on the task of offering “Project Done Week” a week in which local students can stop by the library to get help on school projects, use the computers for research or to type their paper and get assistance with finalizing their ideas. Even in only one student takes advantage of Project Done Week I’d like to think that our library has done its part to help with keeping that child in school.
Originally just another program for work, Project Done Week is now my part to curb the mind blowing statistic that I learned today: every nine seconds a young person drops out of high school everyday in the US. My efforts are not alone. I also learned today that Proctor & Gamble (P&G) want to do something about it.

- Save and Do Good: Look for special P&G brandSAVER coupons in your local newspaper on Sunday, July 31. For each coupon redeemed, P&G will donate two cents to CIS. Find out where to get your P&G brandSAVER on Facebook. The uncapped donation will be based on the number of coupons redeemed beginning July 31 – the more you save, the more you give. Most coupons expire after four weeks.
- Watch to Donate: Watch an exclusive video from John Legend on Facebook where for each view, P&G will donate $.25 to CIS, up to $10,000.
- Spread the Word: Use the embeddable photos and video on this site to alert your readers to how they can help School the Nation!
