Say it Rah-shay By Oct 30, 2011 2 Comments
Due to Snowtober (stupid snow storm in October!) I was able to finish up The Son of Neptune. I know everybody’s crazy about Rick Riordan and his modern day myths but I really had to push to get through the end of his book. I am curious to read about the quest and see what happens when Jason and Reyna are reunited but I think I can take it or leave it.

A few weeks ago I won a copy of Rosalind Wiseman’s Boys, Girls and other Hazardous Materials. It’s totally a teen book and my niece will probably love it. So far its not unlike anything I have already read. New girl, wanna bes, tryingtobes. But it’s my guilty reading pleasure and I totally was reading during a futile attempt to blow dry my hair as I got ready for work.

I have also started Martha Beck’s Expecting Adam. It’s for my book club but as a mom who was once pregnant with a kid who may or may not have had issues it’s difficult for me to quiet my mind enough to read. I realize that I do have a healthy kid but revisiting that time is always a bit painful for me.

In the car I am listening to Jo Nesbo’s The Snowman. I’m only on chapter three but am going to order the other books in the series. I usually like to start a series from the beginning but in this case The Snowman had so much hype and when I was making copies the CD was practically calling my name to be borrowed. This is not unlike other things I have read but I think the added exoticism of the book not being set in New York makes me not care that I am reading yet another cop book.

The Bee and I haven’t been reading much together lately and its really not for lack of trying. We have been doing homework, housework and things in between. We really haven’t found anything that we both wanted to read. She is happy to read her Sister’s Grimm book and wans’t into Anne of Green Gables. I tried to slide it in one night couched in a bribe of staying up late but The Bee is no fan of Lucy Maud.

When I finish Rosalind’s book I am going to head back into the mythological world and read Sirenz by Charlotte Benardo. THis time two teens are recruited by Hades to be his newest sirens. Can we just talk about Hades? He gets such a poor rap sometimes.

What’s in your pile this week?

  1. Ooh, I love a good guilty read, and now I want to check out Boys, Girls and other Hazardous Materials.

I say it every week, but I’m saying it again–I envy your reading time! I miss the days of reading/listening to more than 1 book at a time. I’ll get back to that place soon, I hope!

Thanks for linking up again!! I’m enjoying reading what you’re reading!

I’m reading “Expecting Adam”, too. After that, I don’t have anything good to read, so I hope I can find something this weekend!

Your turn! Tell it to Rah-shay!
