There are less than two weeks left until the end of the school year and I am ready to burst with song! Middle school has been quite the challenge for my daughter and I and I am so ready for days of sleeping in, no fussing with uniforms, and no homework. (Well at least until summer projects start!)
Here are some movies streaming on Netflix to gel channel your inner song bird.

Of the movies listed I have to say Grease is my favorite. When I was a kid I was all about the Sandy and Danny love story but as an adult I have to say I love me some Rizzo. She’s tough, takes no stuff, dates men who are so not good for me. She is me a few years ago (I mean without the pregnancy scare, no judgement!) but this was totally me. The Bee, of course, loves Sandy, although her choice of outfit at the end is a bit risqué for my modest teen.
If there is one thing we can agree on, it’s the songs and the excitement of going to Rydel High.
As a kid I remember Grease being an event at our house. We would scour the TV Guide to see what was coming on and celebrate when we saw the announcement for Grease. We would gather around the TV at my grandmother’s house (she had the huge floor model…a whole 27 inches!) and wait for the show to begin.
From the opening notes of Grease being the word to the closing of going together, we would sing and dance and pretend we were the good girls who transformed and were now HOT.
As a woman of the new millennium, I want my daughter to find her desire to change within herself and not to get the guy however each time Sandy purrs, “Tell me about it, stud” I cheer as a person who always felt like a geeky girl who would never get the boy.
Check it for yourself and get ready for a toe tapping feel good day.
Happy singing!
