In which I think about getting a new (to me) car.
As I gather the documents for filing my income taxes I am already making a plan for what I need to do with, if I get one, my refund. This year I do not have major repairs or purchases needed for my home (knock wood) and while I do plan to save most of what I get, I also plan to consider a purchase of some things I want and not necessarily need.
A spa day would be great, getting a facial and massage…those cares being rubbed away. Or, a weekend trip? Effin Guy and I could steal away for a few days, taking long walks and sipping wine as we chat the night away. Maybe that really expensive yarn I have been eyeing? The yarn who’s price tag makes me want to holla but is so luscious to touch? Heck, maybe something simple like a dinner and show in the city?
These are great ideas but reality rushed in when it hit me that in a few short years I will have a second driver in the house. Before I know it, The Bee will be old enough to, gulp, drive and it’s time for me to think ahead for the day when those words are uttered, “Mom…can I borrow the car?”
While dreams of fun wants still dance in my head, I decided to do the smart thing and start he research for a second car. Most likely it will be a “new to us” car but I still need to be an informed consumer when I make my purchase.
The official blog for Drive Time is a great place to start. The site of full of small tips and tricks to make car buying available for all. I love the tips for getting the most out of your gas mileage and there was even non car talk including how to get a winter workout.
The used car page was a little daunting at first but there are filters to be applied to help make your car choice. DriveTime is the largest used car dealer and financing company helping people with credit issues find and finance vehicles in the USA. They currently operate more than 120 dealerships in 21 states.
I still have some time before I hand over the keys but it is comforting to know that I have time to research and make an informed decision that will not leave me worried.
