Speaking of moving those muscles I’d been in the hunt for some type of strength training program that I would actually do. So far nothing is calling me but I took a page from my friend Robin and decided to make sights along my park route a part of my routine.
Along my route there are a plethora of dogs, trolleys and bike riders. At first I was all, “why are there so any dogs? People in Philly LOVE dogs” but then I decided to use them.
- For each dog I see I do five crunches.
- For each trolley I do give push-ups. Dude. There are a lot of trolleys during rush hour!
- For each bike rider I do 30 second planks.
- On evening runs I see lots of musicians and cats (go figure). For each musician or cat I do ten deadlifts.
So far this is my sneaky way of sliding in some strength training without a proper routine. I have been doing free weight work at home to work my arms while watching TV but I think I need something a bit more routine. That upper arm waddle ain’t nobody’s joke!
I am two pounds shy of my first goal. I was at goal but that false confidence I had of hitting my goal caused me to think that I could not keep counting calories and boom. Instead of quitting and going on a crazy binge, I have refocused, resumed counting and am back on track.
So…how are you moving those muscles? Tell me in the comments!
Happy July!

I think it is awesome that you have committed to staying fit. I know it is not easy to stick to a workout regimen.
It’s the best when you can finally get over the initial slump and really start to enjoy your workout! Hope you can reach your goal!
Keep at it and I am sure you will reach your goal. I need to start my workout routine again. I feel better when I stick to it.
I am so sad that August starts tomorrow. I am going to get back on track with fitness too.
I’m so sad that summer is almost over. I need to get back on track with exercise.
That is great! I so need to get back on the treadmill, I have gotten too lazy!
It looks like you have been doing a great job of staying active. I wish I had the motivation to do something such as that.
Can’t believe it’s August already! Summer went by so quickly and my plans of getting back on the fitness track has quickly gone too. I need to get back into it. Its great you’ve really committed wish I had that in me!
Start slow. Seriously. 15 minutes a day. A meal a time. Soon it will become habit and a way of life.
I can’t say that I enjoy running, but I know that I’ve been doing more of it and it makes me feel better these days.
Wow I think 89 miles is a great accomplishment. Keep working on it girl.
Congratulations for making this habit your own. After 40 days a habit is a habit.
You are doing a good job and I admire you for being committed to look and stay fit. I walk 3 times a week and I hope to increase it to 5 times, if not everyday.
89 miles is AWESOME! And you should be super proud! Heck, I’ve been proud of myself for hitting the gym 3 times a week lol!
