One of my goals for 2015 is to attend a yarn show of some type. (For 2016 I would like to create something in my neck of the woods. This idea is still in it’s infancy but I am putting it out in the universe to get me started.) Today I got an e-mail about the inaugural Interweave Yarn Fest, being held in Loveland, Colorado April 16-19th.
See below for complete details!
Enthusiasts of all fiber arts disciplines—knitting, crochet, weaving and spinning—are invited to immerse themselves in the world of fiber at Interweave Yarn Fest, where they will hone their fiber crafting skills, shop exclusive yarns and supplies, and mingle with the leading mentors in the fiber industry. Yarn Fest, in its inaugural year, will be hosted on April 16-19, 2015 at the Embassy Suites Loveland in Loveland, CO.
This four-day retreat allows consumers with a passion for the fiber crafts an opportunity to learn new techniques, meet nationally-known instructors, shop for unique fiber tools/products, and connect with fellow enthusiasts in a comfortable environment. The first F+W event to feature all four fiber disciplines together, Yarn Fest includes:
- Dozens of expertly taught, project-based workshops in knitting, crochet, weaving and spinning for beginner through advanced-level fiber students. Workshops are held daily in 3- and 6-hour sessions. Students who register for three or more workshops will receive a commemorative Yarn Fest tote bag of exclusive yarns, fiber accessories and product samples and valuable coupons.
- A sold-out marketplace with over 50 vendors from around the world, who will supply one-of-a-kind specialty fibers, hand-dyed yarns, patterns, fiber supplies and related products. This marketplace is FREE to enter and open to the general public from: 10am-6pm on April 16; 10am-8pm on April 17; and 10am-6pm on April 18.
- Evening social activities each night, including a mix-and-mingle event with fiber instructors and Interweave Magazine editors on April 16, a Shop ‘Til You Drop event at the Marketplace on April 17, and a Keynote Dinner with Wild Fibers Magazine founder, Linda Cortright, on April 18.
Yarn Fest promotes hands-on, interactive learning in knitting, crochet, weaving and spinning through workshop sessions taught by notable fiber experts like knitting’s Kate Atherley, crochet’s Lily Chin, spinning’s Jillian Moreno, and many more. Students will enjoy learning new craft techniques from these mentors and will have full access to a Student Fiber Lounge to connect with fellow fiber students and practice their crafts in an intimate space between sessions.
The Marketplace is FREE and open to the public. It will feature daily door prizes and a silent auction, as well as a Fiber Spotlight Pavilion, with product demonstrations and book and DVD signings—all located on the show floor. Yarn Fest invites all enthusiasts and those interested in learning more about the fiber arts to participate in the offered workshops and activities and to shop the Marketplace throughout the four days.
