This has been a very good week. On vacation from the day job, enjoying long lazy mornings, books, time with The Bee and family. I feel ready to storm the castle, jump back into the swing of things, help The Bee get ready for her new school and be fabulous as I do it. Here are some of the posts that have inspired me this week. Its a holiday weekend, have a blast and a ball getting that one last summer party on! But before you do, here are some of my favorites from this week.
Words from Issa Mas, Single Mama NYC who encouraged readers to Get Back Up when they are feeling like the world is trying to keep them down. Wow! Her post really spoke to me. I have a wonderful support system but there are times when I dwell in the negative instead of counting my blessings. Issa gave me a boost for when I am feeling the full weight that is life and letting me know that its okay to feel down and its OK to get back up. Issa is also a fantastic writer and wonderful voice for single mothers. Check her out and follow her on Twitter. She rocks!
I’m hooked again and am loving The Double Stitch Twins Diva Driving Arm Warmers. I still am working on UFOs but these are going to my next project. They look like they will work up quickly and if I want to get a pair worked up for fall. Lion Brand has some great Market Bags that are quick to work up and look great finished. I’m also digging these Star Wars Tie Fighters. A few granny squares and perhaps I can also geek out?
Hmmm….I guess I am not the only person who wants to look better naked! Jessica from Found the Marbles is on a mission to be kinder to her body and writes about her journey here. Women’s Health magazine has a new book out called Look Better Naked and if you sign up you can get some tips and tricks to help you get started.
I’ve added a few more items to my to read list. The upcoming movie, We Need to Talk About Kevin starring Tilda Swinton looks amazing. The preview made me gasp and then I squeed when I found out a book was available (yup, I totally requested one from the library!). I cannot wait to get my hands on the book by Lionel Shriver and I am excited to see Tilda Swinson in the movie. (Total aside, isn’t Tilda great? She was wicked as the White Queen and there is something about her ice queen, cool as ice on screen persona.) Here is the trailer. What say you?
Last, but not least, Effin Guy and I went to see Warrior last week. What a movie! He wrote a review about it (as I was too much of a wuss to try and get my thoughts organized enough to write one!) and I am thinking of going to see this movie again. This movie was raw, was about macho men, fighting and made me sob. Here is Effin Guy’s review (is it tacky for me to link to my own page?) and here is the official Warrior page. There are sneak peeks again this weekend. If you do decided to check it out, let me know what you thought.
What’s your favorites this week?
