Five Reasons You SHOULD See Muppets Most Wanted

Say it Rah-shay By Mar 21, 2014 25 Comments

Last night The Bee, Dill and I had an opportunity to catch a preview of the Muppets Most Wanted and I LOVED it!  The Teen and Preteen thought it was corny but I am a connoisseur of corn and this was just fine. This movie reminded me of the Muppets from when I was a kid. Yes, this is totally a “Git awf mah lawn” moment but dig it…as a kid I used to be kind of afraid of The Muppets (yes, yes, I was kind of afraid of a lot of things as a kid). One thing I always enjoyed through, my fingers of course, were the shenanigans and backstage antics of the variety show that we never quite saw any acts of featuring a blonde pig in love with a frog and a piano playing dog.

But the new movie…such a good time!

Here are five reasons you SHOULD see Muppets Most Wanted:

  1. It is full of celebrity cameos.

Besides stars Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey, other celeb cameos include Danny Trejo (who is never not good), Ray Liotta, Jermaine Clement, Stanley Tucci (swoon!), Salma Hayek, and Christoph Waltz. Their cameos made me fondly remember days of yore when a movie would be full of wackiness (It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World anyone?) complete with celebrities making appearances in fun and unexpected ways.

2. Ty Burrell as Inspector Jean Pierre Napoleon.

Inspector Jean Pierre Napoleon is a French Interpol inspector who works with Sam the Eagle on finding Constantine. The interactions between Inspector Napoleon and Sam the Eagle are hilarious! The snarky jokes about the working habits of the French were a hoot and Ty Burrell is pretty darn funny doing a version of Inspector Clouseau.

3. Tina Fey and the prisoners of the GULAG.

Without giving away too much just think…Prisoners, Broadway and Kermit as stage manager. Despite being locked away in a prison camp, Kermit still manages to charm hardened prisoners with his manner. The prisoners were a riot and I wanted to see more when they were not on the screen.

4. Party Central, A Monster University Short.

Ooozma Kappa is throwing THE LAMEST part ever! Enter Mike and Sulley who come up with a plan to make their frat party THE frat party to be at!

5. No Songs about Rainbows

Yeah. You read right. I cannot stand that sad sack song or its equally depressing cousin It’s Not That Easy Being Green. This time there were original songs and they were light, fun and had me humming out of the theater. The “bad guy” song, I’ll Get You What You Want (Cockatoo in Malibu) as sung by Constantine had my teen cringing as I shimmied out of the theater. Add in The Muppet theme in SPANISH and I’m ready to download the soundtrack!

About the movie

Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.
