In which The Bee gets down and dirty.
The Bee’s Girl Scout Troop has been participating in First Bloom, which is a national conservation education program from the National Park Foundation that reaches out to urban youth in their communities to teach them the science of native plants, encouraging them to protect the environment in America’s celebrated national parks and in their own backyards. For a year her Girl Scout Troop has been visiting Independence Mall, Bartram’s Gardens and other plant and wildlife locations to learn about plants, the environment and national parks.

The Bee, in orange hat, working for Independence Garden |
Her troop’s garden, Independence, is entered into a contest. Please vote daily for them until May 16. These girls worked really hard! They worked with other troops to plan the garden, to learn about native plants and then did the actual work digging and seeding! If you are in the Philly area stop by Independence Mall and check it out.
Thank you in advance!
