Say It, "Rah-shay"

Words and thoughts from Rachée

FeBREWary

February 17, 2020

In which I share an update on some of the things that’s brewing this month.

How’s it hanging party people? After reading an article by Schnelle Acevedo on Mom 2.0 about getting back into blogging I decided to work on a post and see what it feels like.

Winter is slowly coming to an end and lighter afternoons make for a longer evening. It’s nice coming home and not feeling that crushing feeling of having to squeeze in all the things that need to be done for the end of the day.

So what’s brewing in Racheeland?

Still running (okay…wogging). I really can’t say enough about Black Girls Run and the motivation I feel to love. I’m not competing with anyone but myself, I’m running my race at my pace and I feel good! I will admit that some of the benefits of all of this running is a better stamina (no more Darth Vader sounds after I walk up a flight of stairs!), my blood pressure is lower, and my clothes are looking really good.

I’m training for three races in the Philly area and feel that this is the year that I am going to be fully trained and prepared and won’t be feeling like dying when I get to the finish line.

Work is work. I’m not going to talk much about it because I don’t have the battery life nor the tact to work out my feelings in this space. Let’s just say that it’s still a struggle as I adjust to this role and when I see a baby, I’m hugging all of the babies.

Crafting is good. I’ve been working on spending time each day working on projects. Even if it’s just a row or two. I’ve let stress from work allow me to become a couch potato lump and I’ve gotten away from the things that are make me happy.

I’m working up some projects for The Bee since her birthday is coming up and finishing a few outstanding WIPs (works in progress). My goal is to work through my stash before buying more yarn.

I working my way through a few books. Loving Randy Susan Meyers’s “Waisted” and Daniel Nayeri’s “Everything Sad is Untrue.”

Two very different books but both have me losing myself in the pages.

Hitting other things:

  • Family is…going to get its own post. There’s a lot to share.
  • My kitties are adorable.
  • I’m in a play…well stage managing one.
  • Adventures in the kitchen to be continued. I have been slacking off because I’ve been running (wogging) and thinking the exercise would negate my crappy diet. It doesn’t.

What’s next?

Just taking it day by day, minute by minute and letting it be.
