Do you know what today is?
It’s my Runniversary with Black Girls Run!
Three years ago I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and joined a BGR group for a walk. That first walk was so hard and I was feeling slow and logy but I kept it up and years later I have another thing to share: I am running a marathon and I am an ambassador for the AACR Philadelphia Marathon Weekend!
A few weeks ago, I got an email from the good folks from AACR Philadelphia Marathon proclaiming that this particular email had the lowest registration prices available. I was like, “Truck it! I am going to sign up to do the half marathon again.” But, while I was filling out the registration form, my hand hovered over the option for the full marathon and suddenly I was clicking on the option to a FULL Marathon and y’all 1…3..5…7 because I can’t even!
My first reaction was:
You may recall that I attempted a marathon before and it was just not a good experience. Just thinking about running 26.2 miles is making me nervous. But there is no time for nerves…I was selected to be an ambassador for the AACR Philadelphia Marathon Weekend!
I am so excited for this opportunity! Sure, there are days that I struggle with my runs and there are days when I don’t always feel like going for a workout, but I am so excited to share the journey with you all! My training and updates about the race, the steps I take to ensure that I race strong and stay healthy.
Stay tuned for more info and Happy Running friends!
