Jacob is on a mission. As a child his grandfather told him stories that couldn’t have possibly been true but after the his grandfather dies under mysterious circumstances Jacob searches for the truth which takes him to the scene of his grandfather’s stories; a mysterious orphanage that may or may not have actually existed.
When I read Ransom Rigg’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children I was creeped out. Although I am person who tends to shy away from the spooky, something about this book compelled me to read. This book sends delicious shivers down my spine and makes me all goosepimply (is this a word?) whenever I glance at the cover of what appears to be a little girl who looks like an old flapper floating in the air. The story was creepy but I think the pictures that accompany the story is what adds to the thrill of reading.
The characters are real and believable and I am excited to read more.

r’s note: I was sent a copy of this book to review but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m smack dab in the middle of this one right now. I downloaded it to my Nook for my daughter because she is into ghost/creepy stories,. We’re both reading it. I’ve passed where she is, which is good so that I can check for her comprehension along the way. I’m snuggling up with it tonight. I hope I can get finished. This book is goooooood. I wonder how long it will take for it to be picked up for a movie?
