Between the Covers: Immortal Beloved

r’s note: Finally working through that to read pile! There are so many books, so little time! Also, there are some spoilers.

In a market saturated with vampires, werewolves and witches, Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan is a refreshing change of pace. Although Nasty is an immortal and posesses some magic, this book was fresh, new and kept me wanting to read and find out more.

Consummate party girl Nastasya, Nasty is immortal and has done it all and seen it all. When one of her friends goes too far and injures a mortal, Nasty realizes that this is not the life she desires and sets out to escape. Her journey takes her to America where she seeks refuge with a group of immortals. Here she meets Reyn, a Nordic immortal who seems very familiar to Nasty. What is he hiding and is Nasty safer at the farm or should she seek her escape elsewhere?

The history of Nasty’s life was interesting. Nasty has lived many lives, in many roles and in each she would loss people she loved (including her entire family). After she reaches a safe haven, she learns to grow from careless to caring. On the Little Brown website there is a fun timeline of all of Nasty’s lives and what she did. I often think of who I would be if I had time and time again to figure it out. Perhaps I would be a party myself or maybe I would dedicate my life to sometype of purpose.

This book is a part of a trilogy with the sequel coming out this fall. I am anxious to see if nasty can maintain this new life or if she will revert back to her bad girl ways.
