This Thursday, September 17th from 6:00pm to 10:30pm, join over 50 food trucks and restaurants for the Mt. Airy Street Fare: Sip, Savor, Stroll. Formerly called “Mt. Airy Night Market” this annual fall festival will feature sweet, salty and savory plates, plus cold sips, on Germantown Avenue (between Sedgwick Street and W. Mt. Airy Avenue). Children and adults of all ages will enjoy free activities and entertainment, artisanal crafts, and live music from School of Rock, ReLive, Hennessey Bonfire, Bethlehem & Sad Patrick, Philly Bloco and The Band Sheep. Last year the event attracted 15,000+ hungry attendees, the largest audience ever. For event updates, visit gomtairy.com, call 215-844-6021, follow @gomtairy on Twitter and like “Go Mt. Airy” on Facebook.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a press preview of the event and want to share highlights from an evening of strolling and dining.

The evening started at Earth Bread + Brewery, 7136 Germantown Ave.  On the sampler menu was Craft beer from Earth Bread + Brewery and BBQ sampler from Streetside BBQ.

Since I am not a beer drinker, I declined tasting a beer but the reactions of the other people in attendance made me regret my decision. The platter from Streetside Barbecue was amazing. Pulled pork, brisket, and barbecue wings so tender and savory. Which paired quite well with his cornbread, cornbread that was moist without being gooey, sweet without being too sweet. I was able to chat with the owner who was so pleasant and such a down to earth guy and he shared the history of the four barbecue sauces he brought to accompany the platter.

Next up was Bee Burger and Mt. Airy Noodle House (MAHN) located at 7133 Germantown Ave. These locations are both owned and run by a lovely couple, Ann and Jake. Check  On the sampler menu were sliders fro Bee Burgers and Spring Rolls from MAHN.

The food here was fresh, delicious and filling, The spring rolls were made with crisp veggies which offered a satisfying crunch in contrast with the soft shell. The burgers were juicy and flavorful.

At this location there is seating indoor and two outdoor in which to sit and enjoy your meal. The staff were very pleasant and were fun to chat with.

Bonus… Jake and Ann also own the bookstore nextdoor to the Noodle House! You could possibly grab a book, a bit and have a quiet meal with some literary entertainment!

Unfortunately, I don’t have social info for these two locations which is all the more reason to visit!

Craft Beer and BBQ? Any chance they could wing their way across the pond sometime soon? It sounds amazing!

I LOVE food trucks. The food is always (is it in my mind?!) better. My husband would have loved the Brewery. He’s a huge beer fan.

I love going to street fairs- such a fun way to try new things and people watch! I would definitely be right there tasting that beer too! Especially with that plate of BBQ to eat!
