A few times a week I drive past the Dock Street Brewery always promising to make a visit. Its close enough and a tip on FourSquare offers vegan pizza. Saturday Effin Guy and I decided to try something new and had a late meal at the restaurant. Located in West Philly at 50th and Baltimore, Dock Street was a nice place to spend a Saturday evening.
Since it is a brewery I tried the Saison Petite. The bartender told us that it was a lighter beer but after a few sips I passed mine on to Effin Guy. We ordered food and were very pleased with the meal. We started with the hummus which is served with roasted walnuts, roasted peppers and olives and flatbread. The hummus was smooth and very flavorful. Served room temperature, it was, as per Effin Guy, an explosion of flavor.
For our meal we ordered the Fig Jam Pizza. This pizza is mozzarella, Gorgonzola, apple smoked bacon and a variety of herbs. This is a thin crust pizza and the mixture of sweet and salty was a delight.
We didn’t get dessert; too stuffed from the meal. But I have my eye on the cannoli for my next visit.
Dock Street Brewery is located at 701 S 50th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19143.
It’s family friendly and a decently priced meal for a night out.
Plotting on more hummus,

<3 dock street! I'm not a big beer drinker myself, but I've never met a pizza I didn't like.
